Tournament Rules

1.    All schools and athletes must be registered with BC School Sports to participate.

2.   The Team bench is for 18 athletes, 2 coaches, 1 manager and an athletic therapist.

3.   Games will be 4 x 15 minute quarters with a 2-minute break between quarters 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 and then a 5-minute half time. Teams must be ready 15 minutes prior to their starting time.

4.   Pinnies, game balls and Captains’ bands are supplied.

5.   Mouth guards and shin guards are mandatory.   

6.   Shirts must have a number, including goalkeepers.          

7.   Rules of the Game: Except as varied in these regulations, the Tournament will be carried out in accordance with the current regulations and Policies of Field Hockey BC and the FIH Rules of Hockey 2022.

8.  Scoring: win - 3 points, tie - 1 point, loss - 0 points

9.   Rankings in pool play will be decided by:

              (a) total number of points

              (b) goals difference

              (c) goals for

              (d) result of mutual match

              (e) Shoot out competition     

10.    Tie-breakers in playoffs will be decided by shoot out competition.
